If you follow us on Social media or are on our mailing list then you may be aware of our Likes for Lung Cancer Awareness campaign in November 2014. Lung cancer awareness is dear to me because my dad and Jerome’s mom were both diagnosed with lung cancer.
Through out the month of November we shared lung cancer awareness facts and also kept track of all likes for our Facebook page and donated a dollar for each one. I am happy to announce that we donated $172 dollars to the Lung Alliance.
Sadly, I also have to announce that my mother in law, Janice Marie Reed lost her battle with lung cancer on December 18th. We knew months ago that her Cancer was terminal but not sure if that ever makes anything easier. I applaud my husband for his strength during this time. He is an only child and whenever he was not working he was visiting with his mom.
A few months ago, Sharon a family friend coordinated with a motorcycle club, Dem Head Spinnerz a day of love celebrating Ms Janice. I hate that I did not finish writing this post shortly after the event. However after burying my mother in law a few days ago this has been therapeutic.
I was not quite sure what to expect when my husband told me about the cookout at the park for his mom. I showed up on time with Todd and chicken in tow. I was immediately greeted by women in purple and black. A short time later a DJ, photographer with an open setup similar to ours, and about a dozen men on gorgeous bikes arrived.
There was great food, music, and lots people celebrating Ms. Janice. I don’t think any of us have seen her smile so much or so wide. It was nice watching her dance and have fun.
I hope that we honored her well. I am thankful for the memories that were captured on film during this difficult time.
It is a true reminder of why I started this business and what it is truly about. I started Props! To create a legacy for my son, and I enjoy it because I am helping others capture moments and memories that they can hold on to long after their love ones are gone.
