One of the things I love about Props! is that I get to work with great and imaginative clients. I know people often say don’t work with family, but when my godbrother Justin asked, I could not help but be a part of the surprise celebration for Carolyn’s 70th birthday party.
My godmother is a great person that has helped raise my mom, my siblings, myself, and even little Noah. So without any hesitation Props! was there. “Cal-Cal” as she is affectionately called has always wanted to go to Hawaii. Although we were not able to make that happen on her birthday we brought Hawaii to her! (And later surprised her with a trip for early 2015 to Hawaii.)
There were a beautiful fruit display and delicious food prepared by family, friends, and church members. I thought the fruit display was professionally done, but was told that with the help of YouTube this beauty was created.
My sisters were in charge of décor. (My sisters’ rock from my wedding to Noah’s First Birthday it is in our DNA.) I had never heard of renting plants; however my sister found a local company that rents tropical plants. And wow, it really transformed the room.
Also included in the décor was the beautiful tablescape of white linen, burlap, seashells, and candles. The décor went great with the relaxing Hawaiian music. I wish you were there to see the guests jaws drop as they were being laid.
Like many events I attend there is always that one thing (besides the Photo booth( that stands out. At this party, I would have to say it was Mr. Pig. No Hawaiian Luau is complete without a pig, and Juan from Ramirez Restaurant in Orange Park delivered the most perfect and most pork I have ever tasted.
I will share bout Props! at the party in another post. I hope you enjoyed this recap.
